I can post and comment again! Working from home got me extra crazy in the kitchen. Made this baller banana bread yesterday morning for breakfast, today I’m making the ragu Farah posted on his IG, and tomorrow my sourdough FINALLY gets itself in the oven.

Nice. I have about 20 frozen, ripe bananas ready for banana bread; I just haven’t had the baking bug since I got the flu bug and lost most of my usual baking audience thanks to  the corona bug.

I, too, have been cooking for sanity’s sake.

I bought käsespätzle makings (think Swabian mac and cheese) last week because I have sausages in the fridge and some spare scallions to sauté , and that’s just gotta happen. Looking to do a less intense version of this with a smooth cutting board and a flat plane :

CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP. (But slower.)

That looks fantastic. I love banana bread.

I made some chicken tortilla soup last night as well as some sushi for my wife. We’ve been cooking up a storm too and we have soooo many dishes, t he dishwasher is filled daily now .

I made that ragu Matt posted a week or so ago and it was pretty excellent. I did find the amount of wine in the recipe a bit excessive, the wine flavour was pretty bold, even after simmering for 2 hours so I’d advise either reducing the amount or using a lighter red than I did.

Nice - I made some banana bread over the weekend with a few overripe nanners we had that nobody was going to eat.  Came out a smidge dry so that’s a little disappointing.

Thanks! I’ll adjust to taste then. I have a cheap cab sav thats open, so I figure I’ll use that. I am cutting the whole recipe in half too, because 12 servings is a shitload.

The recipe I followed said to mix in 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar RIGHT before you get it into a pan to bake... and I’m not sure if that was the trick or not but it was just as moist this morning as it was yesterday. I also cooked on convection with may have helped.

If I can’t hoon around Stuttgart because of border restrictions and a severe lack of funds, I will bring its cheesy goodness to my kitchen.

(... after I finish this freelance article that my inability to think about anything beyond how garbage my life is keeps putting off. )

I used 3/4 cup of wine, simmered for 2.5 hours. Definitely a winner.

Awesome . I’ll definitely be trying this recipe again. I’ll likewise reduce the wine and I was thinking I could use a bit more tomato paste (maybe 3/4 or a whole small can on half the recipe).

The extra half an hour of simmering def helped, I noticed the color really start to change from red to brown at about an hour 45, so I kept going.
